    Unhappy Marlin 1894 Problem

After the rain and the GSR and because it's a good idea once in awhile, I took my rifle apart for cleaning. On reassembly, I can't get the "Hammer Screw" to screw all the way back in, and now it's well stuck - won't continue in, won't come out. I don't want to break the screw or do anymore damage than I already have. Any ideas on how to ease it out, or should I be looking for a gunsmith? Thanks.

I carry a gun because a police officer is too heavy.

    Buzz,

For the hammer screw to go back in the hole the hammer must be perfectly aligned. That might be your problem... not aligned with the two holes on each side of the receiver. Also, I always put a drop or two of Rem Oil on the screw itself and down in the hole on the right side (lead end) of the receiver just to make it go a little easier. Not sure this will be much help because without seeing your issue it's hard to really understand what the problem might be. You might have also had the trigger in the wrong position when you put the hammer back in place and that might have pressure on the hammer screw.

    This link might help.
